The Netherlands may send two Volt MEPs to Brussels

Volt's Dutch lead candidate Reinier van Lanschot said he remains "nervous and excited," at an election celebration of the pan-European movement Volt.

Traditionally strong in the Netherlands, the party could send up to two lawmakers to Brussels, depending on the mail-in ballot count. One MEP is considered guaranteed. This follows earlier reporting suggesting that Volt's German branch will send two and perhaps three MEPs to the European Parliament.

Van Lanschot pointed at the competition between the far-right PVV and the centre-left green/red alliance, in comments to Euractiv, saying that the EU election "was really a showdown of who would be the bigger party." He believed this dynamic hurt Volt's results.
