At least 260 people attending the Supernova rave in southern Israel were killed in the early stages of the Hamas attack, authorities say.

Many escaped the event too, but others were not so lucky and were taken captive by the combatants who infiltrated the Israeli border from Gaza at the weekend.

One man who escaped, an Australian, Daniel Moritz, said the militants were "slaughtering" everyone in their path as they attacked.

“Suddenly a machine gun starts firing at us full force,” Moritz said.
