Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says he is listening to Māori.

From meetings with the Iwi Leaders Forum, he said he believed they had a shared vision for investing in and caring for people.

He said his commitment to improving education, building the economy, and investing in initiatives such as Te Matatini, showed his Government shared its prioritised with Māori.

Speaking from the mahau, Luxon also ruled out support the Treaty Principles Bill past its first reading.

With every party at Te Koroneihana saying they would not support the bill, that meant that only ACT would be voting in its favour. But the Government would still introduce the bill for debate.

Deputy Prime Minister and NZ First leader Winston Peters left before he had the opportunity to speak.
