Beaton noted that Dickason was never asked in her police interview why she did what she did.

The police got their confession, and that was all they wanted, the lawyer said.

She was also still likely under the influence of the medication she’d taken in an attempt to overdose herself, in a “flat” and “low” state in which she talked about her children in a present tense.

Beaton called it “a really unfortunate way in which they interviewed her”.
