Messages show recovery - Crown
McRae said that Dickason’s messages, evidence from her close family members including Graham, and her own account from time, showed she had recovered from late 2020 to 2021.
Such messages, highlighted by McRae, included:
“For the first time in nine years I’m not using antidepressants…it was just a mindset shift”.
“I have been off antidepressants for three months already after ten years”.
McRae said Dickason’s messages showed she was participating in a workout program and was achieving goals in relation to that, and the jury may think this was indicative of a person no longer suffering from postpartum depression.
While the defence highlighted other messages from this time in which Dickason said she was “tearful”, “anxious” and “low mood”, McRae said the jury needed to be careful with these messages, as they lacked any context.
